We have extensive experience in providing a comprehensive range of accounting,
financial,
tax, and management advisory services to businesses, individuals, and other
organizations. In serving
each client, we first review that client's needs and then design services to
meet those special requirements. We have a sophisticated system of computers
that allows us to provide our clients with state of the art information,
including accounting, payroll processing, tax research, loan financing
decisions, tax return processing and tax planning, retirement and estate
planning, forecasting, budgeting, and numerous other applications. We have a
wealth of resources available that we consult with when necessary. We preserve
the important personal relationship with clients that is the hallmark of a
local firm practice. We have an overriding philosophy to provide high quality
professional accounting, tax, financial and management advisory services to
clients. Professionalism in the accounting profession means integrity,
objectivity, independence where required, adherence to professional standards
and applicable laws and regulations, and a demonstrated will to maintain
and improve the quality of services and to withstand all pressures, competitive
and otherwise, to compromise on principles, standards, and quality.
During 2004 we became affiliated with an international insurance group as an
independent agent and offer annuities, and life, disability and long term care
insurance
through various insurance companies. In 2008 we became affiliated with and
offer investment securities and variable annuities through Mutual Service
Corporation (MSC). MSC merged into LPL Financial (LPL). LPL is a
member of
FINRA
, and
SIPC
. LPL is independent of the planning, consulting, or
advisory business of Phillip G. Sinclair and Phillip G. Sinclair, CPA.
Brent Smith
is the branch manager through which our investment and insurance products are
offered.
During 2004 we commenced transition to a paperless office. We now scan client
records into PDF format, freeing up our filing cabinets and allowing us to copy
records onto DVD media for offsite backup storage. This allows us to insure
your records will be readily available if and when needed, even if a natural
disaster occurs at our office.
During 2009 we began using an online secure portal to send and receive client
files and records through
CyberCabinet
. Please note that you must use Microsoft Internet Explorer with CyberCabinet.
Phil graduated from St. Mary's University in San Antonio, Texas where he
received his BBA with a major in accounting in 1981. He became licensed as
a CPA in 1984. After graduation, he went to work with a financial institution
for about 2 years, and then with a national retailer for about 1 year,
both based in San Antonio. In late 1984, he began his public accounting
career. He first went to work with the international CPA firm of KMG Main
Hurdman which merged into and became a part of the international CPA firm
of KPMG Peat Marwick for about 4 years. He left there to become part of
the management group of a local San Antonio CPA firm where he remained
for about 3 years until he moved to Longview, Texas in late 1991 to open
the firm of Phillip G. Sinclair, CPA.
He has extensive experience in auditing, oil and gas accounting, and
Federal and state income tax preparation and planning, and has experience and
received training in the personal financial planning area relating to
retirement and
estate planning. Phil acquired his life insurance, securities, and variable
annuities licenses during 2000 in order to help clients with financial and
retirement planning and assistance.
Phil has served on the board of directors for several non-profit and community
service organizations for more than 20 years. While in San Antonio he was on
the Board of Directors and was an Officer of the Alumni Association for the
Delta Sigma Phi Social Fraternity. He also served on the Board of Directors and
was an Officer for the San Antonio Chapter of the National Association of
Accountants. He was a member of the Young CPA Involvement Committee of the San
Antonio Chapter of the Texas Society of Certified Public Accountants. After
moving to Longview he served on the Board of Directors and was Treasurer and
Assistant Treasurer for the Longview Museum of Fine Arts. He currently serves
on the Board of Directors and is the Vice-President of the Glenwood Water
Supply Corporation, a non-profit rural water utility system.

public accounting with a Tyler Texas CPA firm, then later worked for a

where she performed accounting, homeowner billings and collections, cash
management, budgeting, and preparing the association's Federal tax returns.

Choosing A Firm
When choosing a CPA Firm, consider the following:
-
It is important to feel comfortable with the CPA you engage. Look for the
right chemistry and make sure you share the same approach to financial

-
Before you engage any firm, have some idea of your plans and objectives.
Compile information about decisions under consideration so you make an
informed decision.

Determine the experience levels of the professionals to be assigned to
your engagement and the extent of involvement of partners, managers, and
